Portsmouth FC’s Conor Shaughnessy scored in the 98th minute to claim all three points against Wycombe Wanderers.
After going 1-0 down in the first half to a goal by Wycombe captain Josh Scowen, Portsmouth fought back to win the game. Goals from Colby Bishop and Conor Shaugnessy rescued the win to maintain Portsmouth’s status as league leaders.
This is a monumental result for Portsmouth as they look to get promoted to the Championship following over a decade out of England’s second tier. It stands as an example of John Mousinho’s side’s togetherness and ability to come back from behind.
It is undeniable that Pompey faced an uphill battle following the ankle injury to their skipper Marlon Pack, set to rule him out for between four and six weeks. This is a blow to Mousinho’s side but Joe Morrell and Manchester City loanee and full Australia international, Alex Robertson provided adequate cover for his injury.
The ever-dependent Colby Bishop tapped in Abu Kamara’s low driven cross to pull the hosts level, then at the death in the 98th minute, summer-arrival - Conor Shaughnessy out jumped Wycombe keeper Max Stryjek to nod in from fellow summer signing Jack Sparkes’ corner.
Pompey were without captain Marlon Pack, who has been ruled out for up to ‘six weeks with an ankle injury’
