Mystery of the massive hatch: Wendy's Commercial road

Mysteriously shiny and unused: the delivery hatch at the new Wendy's on Commercial Road

After the opening of the brand-new shiny Wendy’s burger restaurant on Commercial Road in Portsmouth, I thought I would ensure that the quality of the food was as good as the other locations.

I decided to order some dinner, so I opened up their app to find out what was on offer. Imagine my surprise when I couldn’t get it delivered, considering that Wendy’s not only have their large delivery window (see above), but they advertise all over the internet about their new store.

After regathering my thoughts, I thought I would try to order through one of the delivery apps – which, if I may point out, work very well with other restaurants. However, after hours of research and discovery, I found that Portsmouth Wendy’s do not deliver anywhere – at all.

Most of you will think that there would be no point to this story, but if you ever walk past, you would have probably have noticed the massive delivery hatch in the side of the building, obviously boasting about the sheer numbers of deliveries that they are expecting. So, it does come as a surprise that they do not, erm, actually deliver.

Overall, the lack of delivery is disappointing for both Wendy’s and us students. We lose out on the taste of a Baconator, and they lose a lot of hungry customers.

What a shame… I wonder if it will ever open?
